 இனிய சர்வதேச மகளிர் தின வாழ்த்துகள்

(English message after Tamil message)

அன்புள்ள பெருமைக்கு உரியவரே,
சர்வதேச மகளிர் தினம் மீண்டும்  இன்று கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. வருடத்திற்கு ஒரு முறை வரும் இந்த கொண்டாட்டத்தினத்தன்று, நான் மதிக்கும் வேலை பார்க்கும்/பார்த்த பெண்களுக்கும், வீட்டுப் பணியில் தன்னை செழுமைப்படுத்திக் கொண்டு, தன் குடும்பத்தையே உயர்த்திய பெண்களுக்கும், அழகான, பல கனவுகளுடன் படித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் சிறுமிகளுக்கும், வாழ்த்துச் சொல்வதை, ஒரு பெருமையாகவே செய்து வருகிறேன். 

இந்த வருடம் வாழ்த்துச் சொல்ல தொடங்கும் போது, சமுதாயத்தில் பெண்களின் பங்கு அபரிமிதமாகவே இருக்கிறது. அரசாங்கத்தை மேம்படுத்த நடத்துவதிலாகட்டும், அரசுப் பணியில் உயரச் செல்வதில் ஆகட்டும், பள்ளிகளிலும், கல்லூரிகளிலும், பொதுத்துறையிலும், தனியார் துறையிலும், , வங்கிகளிலும், காப்பீடு துறையிலும், செய்திப் பிரிவுகளிலும் எங்கெங்கு நோக்கினும், பெண்கள் கோலோச்சிக் கொண்டு இருப்பதை காண முடிகிறது. கூடுதலாக,  இப்பொழுது வாடகைக்கார், வாடகை ஆட்டோ, உணவு விடுதிகள், பெட்ரோல் நிலையங்கள் என அனைத்து சேவை துறைகளிலும் பெண்கள் முன்னேறுவதை காண முடிகிறது. இவற்றை உங்களுடன் பகிர்ந்து, நீங்களும் அதற்கு ஒரு முக்கிய காரணம் என்று சொல்ல எனது பேனாவை எடுத்தேன். ஆனால் ஏனோ தெரியவில்லை, மனதில் ஒரு குற்ற உணர்வு ஏற்படுகிறது. 

ஒரு ஆண், இந்த தினத்தில் பெண்களை வாழ்த்துவது, ஒரு சடங்காக மாறிப் போனதோ என்று. இந்தியாவில் (உலகத்திலும் அப்படித்தான் இருக்கலாம்), எப்பொழுதும் காணாத அளவில்  பெண்களை (வயது வித்தியாசம் இல்லாமல்)  மையப்படுத்தி நடந்து வரும் பாலியல் குற்றங்கள், இந்த வருடம், மிகவும் அதிகமாகிப் போனது. சமூக வலைதளத்திலும், செய்தித்தாள்களிலும், வரும் செய்திகள், வெறும் தகவல் பரிமாற்றமாகிப் போனது. குற்றம் புரிந்தவர்களை தண்டிப்பதை விட, குற்றம் இழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களின் மேல் தவறு என்று சுட்டிக் காட்டும் ஆண் மேலாதிக்கம்தான் அதிகம் காணப்படுகிறது. போர் குற்றங்கள் வியட்நாமிலும், ஈராக்கிலும் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்ட போது,  வெள்ளைத் தோலும் மிடுக்கான உடை உடுத்தியவர்களும் மனத்தளவில் கறுத்தவர்களே என்ற உண்மையை புலப்படுத்தியது. அதுதான் இன்றும் நடந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறது. வெளியில் காணப்படும் தோற்றத்திற்கும், மனதினில் உதிக்கும் எண்ணங்களுக்கும், வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்கும் போது செய்யும் தீய செயல்களுக்கும் சம்பந்தமே இல்லை. மனம், சொல், செயல் மூன்றுமே ஒருமித்த நல்லதைச் செய்தால் தான் பெண்மை இங்கு வளரும், அதன் மூலம் சமுதாயமும் பயனடையும். 

பெண்ணிற்கு செய்யப்படும் தீமைகளை, திருதராஷ்டிரானாகிப் போன துரோணரைப் போலும், பீஷ்மரை போலும், விதுரனை போலும், கண்டும் காணாமல் இருக்கும்  நாங்கள் நல்லவர்கள் அல்ல, குற்றம் உள்ளவர்கள் தான். அந்தக் குற்ற உணர்வுடன் உங்களை வாழ்த்துகிறேன்.

Happy International Women's Day

Dear celebrated woman, 
International Women's day celebrations are back for the day. 

On this occasion, I always take pride in extending my happy wishes to
i. the women, who work now/worked in the past,
ii.  the home makers, who enriched themselves and were the force behind the success of their family, spouse, siblings, children and 
iii. girls, studying and preparing themselves, with a lot of dreams.

When I start typing, I can see the share of women in the development of the world, nations and society at large is abundant, as always. The share of the women force exceeds by a comfortable distance - whether in running the government, reaching top positions in their work places, excel in their studies in schools and colleges or in trying to dominate in the service sector like banks, insurance, news media, food restaurants, hospitals, petrol bunks, etc. We now see them driving passenger cars, autos on rent, heavy vehicles also.

I took my pen to share with you the above developments with happiness. But, a sense of guilt, prevented my action for some time.

• Is the guilt because of the increasing sexual abuses on women, irrespective of age? 
• Is it due to 'no action' taken,  but the news on this score in the news and social media are just shared as for ‘information purpose only’ or for further circulation in WhatsApp. 
• Or is it due to victims being blamed for the excesses, instead of punishing the accused.

In the war crimes, one saw the white colour, majestic dress or the sweet language uttered in the lips, shielded the dark heart inside and were in quite contrast  to the crimes committed. Same thing is being repeated now, with a significant difference. The war criminals were punished by the martial courts; but the women abusers of today, go scot free.

Are we privileged to call ourselves 'good persons', when we keep quiet like Bhishma, Vithura, Drona - quite in line with Dritharashtra - when Droupathi had to invoke Lord Krishna to save her grace?

Only when the mind, the uttered word and the action carried out by the society are in unison towards good deeds, the women gets empowered and enrich the society. 

Will it happen?
