SBT Foundation Day: Running 78 on 12th September 2023

 SBT FOUNDATION DAY IS 78 TODAY

SBTians , retired in SBT and post - merger with SBI and who continue serving SBI with SBT as their entry point, celebrate SBT Foundation today across India, particularly in ‘God’s Own Country’, the state of Kerala. The registration date of Travancore Bank Limited (TBL) on 12th September 1945, is celebrated as ‘SBT Foundation Day’, as TBL later on became State Bank of Travancore, merging along with it, quite a few region concentrated commercial banks. Whoever had chosen TBL date of registration and coined the word ‘Foundation Day’ should have been a Deergadarshi, as he never mentioned it as SBT Day, nor taken the date on which the subsidiary of SBI came into existence. Perhaps, he was aware that SBT, after creating a glorios history for itself and the state of Kerala for 58 years, may get itself merged with the parent SBI and cease to exist on its own.

The bank will remain part of history, backed by a well authored book titled ‘Tradition of Trust: The saga of State Bank of Travancore’ (By the illustrious “Trimurthis” Shri K.T.Rajagopalan, Shri JPN Thampy and Shri T.BNalakrishnan), which describes its story up to 2005. While the persons of the erstwhile SBT, continuing their journey in SBI, have adequate and more time to tell their children about SBT, the retired lot, pre and post merger, may have to share their memories fast, as their numbers keeps dwindling down year after year. So, should we not share our moments in SBT, across our friends? Who knows, it may well become another story book with a title "SBTians Green Memories" and live as long as the history of the bank remain. I decided to pen my memories, as a summary, in not more than four pages, in the next thirty days, detailing therein the offices I served, the experience I gained, the long list of SBTians, who shaped my character and career and helped me to be the 'human being' I am today. How about you?

    It is a good idea Viswanathan. On several occasions we use to talk about our experiences in the Bank and various people we have come across during our period in the bank. But it doesn't get recorded anywhere. And as time goes on, even we may not be able to reminisce them factually. So it is a very good idea.

    Having spent almost half of the life span to grow along with this great organisation, founded also with the blessings of the then Maharaja of Travancore , it's worth an attempt. Wish you the best sir .....

    It's a great idea sir. We all have memories in SBT which had a unique work culture. The difference was very much pronounced when merger happened. We can always say that what we are today is because of the training and support by the colleagues and seniors provided in the great organisation called SBT.

  An open letter to DFS or RBI or to whom? Perceived, yet undefined, "conduct and behaviour" determine or detrimental to selection?:   It has been reported in the newspapers that Financial Services Institution Bureau (FSIB) is conducting interviews for the positions of MD & CEO in four public sector banks (PSBs), including that of Indian Bank (IB), where the present MD & CEO is retiring on 31st December 2024. Conduct of interviews for the position of MD & CEO of IB raised a few eyebrows in the banking circle, as the name of the ED of Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) was shortlisted by the FSIB for the said position in April 2024. (பெட்டிச் செய்தியில் காண்க) .  என்னை பண்படுத்திய  மேலும் சில நிகழ்வுகள்:   1. 1973 மே மாதம் என்பது என் நினைவு SSLC (11 ஆம் வகுப்பு) தேர்வு முடிவுகள் நாளிதழில் வந்திருந்தது. தேர்ச்சி பெற்றவர்களில் என் என்ணும் இருந்தது. காலை 10 மணிக்கு நான் படித்த ராமகிருஷ்ணா உயர்நிலைப்பள்ளி T.
